Summit, operating through it's Medical Equipment Solutions business has entered into a managed service and leasing arrangement with the London Upright MRI centre. The agreement is for the provision of a Fonar Upright MRI scanner, the only one of its kind installed in England. Being "open", without the traditional tunnel system used on conventional MRI machines that requires patients to lay down inside the machine, the scanning process is considered to be less stressful for anxious or claustrophobic patients. In addition, the Fonar machine allows patients to be scanned in a weight bearing position which offers additional diagnostic benefits.
