VSM Medtech Ltd (VSM) is a Canadian healthcare technology company.
VSM has two major product lines - Magnetoencephalography (MEG) and Blood Pressure monitors.
- MEG is a technology used for listening to magnetic signals in the brain. It is primarily a research tool, but is gaining acceptance as a clinical tool. A MEG installation will cost around £1.4m, excluding major building works. The first MEG in the UK was a VSM system, installed at Aston University. A second system is going in to the Functional Imaging Laboratory, at the Institute of Neurology which is part of University College, London
- VSM makes three different models of Blood Pressure monitor - the BP TRUT. These models are rated in the top category by the British Hypertension Society, and are distributed in the UK, and most of Europe, by Huntleigh Healthcare (a division of Huntleigh Technology plc) www.huntleigh-diagnostics.com The products are marketed under the Smartsigns LiteT brand.
VSM is using MES to build its business operations and infrastructure in Europe, and enhance its distribution capabilities. One of the principals is acting as Managing Director for VSM in Europe. When MES became involved VSM had one service engineer looking after its European installed base. In a nine month period, a business development manager, with specific clinical and technical skills has been engaged. A second service engineer has been hired, and a sales manager is in the process of being hired - these employees being hired directly by MES.
